The ZLS Story
Dan and David Zimmerman are brothers who, after high school, took two unique paths in their education and careers. Twenty years later, in the summer of 2023, David joined Dan and a few of his friends on a trip to Orlando, Florida. During that trip, one of Dan’s friends mentioned he didn’t understand the value of his current bookkeeper.
Dan and David quickly realized they had the combined skills and experience to offer their friend a better bookkeeping solution. This conversation sparked an idea, and by the fall of 2023, the Zimmerman brothers met in Southern California to develop a strategic business plan. Their goal: to combine their professional strengths and shared values to create the foundation for ZLS Bookkeeping.
The initials “ZLS” are embedded in both Dan and David’s names—but more importantly, they represent their ZeaLouS passion for partnering with small business owners in the health and wellness industry. ZLS Bookkeeping is built on the mission of helping our clients stay focused on improving their clients’ lives, while Dan and David handle the core business management processes. Their services provide decision-quality financial insights designed to help businesses scale and grow with confidence.
David
David is a 24-year United States Air Force veteran. Throughout his distinguished career, he served as a Contracting Officer where he specialized in procurement and strategic sourcing across eight different assignment locations and five deployments around the world. His military career culminated in his role as Deputy Director of Contracting for the Asia-Pacific Region.
Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, David began his collegiate journey at the University of Nebraska. Over the years, he has earned an Associate’s Degree in Contracts Management, a Bachelor of General Studies with an emphasis in Accounting and Political Science, a Master’s Degree in Operational Art and Science, two MBAs, a Master of Sport Business Management, and a Graduate Certificate in Event Management. His most profound educational experience was working alongside Dr Richard Lapchick.
Following his military service, David served as the Director of Operations for the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games and, most recently, as an Accounting Manager for Freeman and Sparks Marketing (a Freeman Company). He is now proud to work alongside his brother,

Dan brings over 12 years of business management and accounting experience in the entertainment industry. Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, he made the leap to Los Angeles, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Media Management from California State University, Northridge.
Combining his passion for film with strong administrative skills, Dan held several key roles in Hollywood, including Project Manager at Ignition Print and Accounting Manager at Drissi Advertising. Alongside his professional work, he has cultivated a deep interest in personal development, earning certifications from both the Life Purpose Institute and as an AlchemE FieldSpeak Mentor.
Dan’s passion lies in helping others transform their relationship with money and discover the most efficient, effective strategies for success as business owners and leaders. He is honored to work alongside his brother, David, as co-owner of ZLS Bookkeeping, providing business owners with the support they need to grow—so they can focus on doing more of what they love.
